12th March

Even though this is my finalized Timetable, I believe that I won’t stick to this completely because certain things will require my attention more and I’ll have to spend more time on them. I’m sure some of these parts will move around because I’ll need to test them and make sure they work properly such as Blueprints and won’t leave them till the end.

I firstly decided to create a floor plan of my game so I could get a good feel of the size and scale of the game, doing this would allow me to consider texture choices also while I was doing this because I could think what textures would be to detailed and which ones wouldn’t be. I color coded it because it would allow me to see what and where the edges of each different shape was and could consider where the walls and indents could go and help me picture how I would construct the walls.

These components will be used to build up the environment that the player can move around in, and creating then in a modular way will easily allow me to construct the exterior of buildings and build up an environment around the player.
I made these by using Additive and Subtractive boxes, using this method allows me to create walls and floors, but hollowing out the middle that’ll allow the player to pass through. The colors on the walls are currently just placeholders that’ll be replaced by proper textures in the finalized project. I did it this way because it’s relatively simple and allows me to build the environment up and focus on this and add the textures later after I’ve finished everything else.

I made these Boxes in several different sizes so I could make wider and narrower alleyways and streets allowing the player to explore a varied environment and create a more realistic feeling of the streets of London.

Since my game is set next to Tower Bridge and the waterfront, I’ve made simple railings in UE4. I will create a Blueprint that allows me to duplicate these next to each other and quickly but effectively create a long railing without having to place these separately, doing it this way will allow me a save time and use that on other parts of my game.
