Unit 8: Production 6

Artillery Cannon

Continuing on my game, I again decided to create more models that could be used to suggest war and violence such as this cannon. While creating this model I used online pictures and models to create an accurate representation and scaled model of cannon similar to this used during World War 1 and 2. Once again like a majority of my models I used Additive and Subtractive blocks to create a hollow barrel and the view sight, to the top right of the cannon.

Extra Details

I decided to add optional details, such as the firing cover as shown above to make the model a little bit more interesting.

AA Gun

I also chose to build an AA (Anti-Air) Gun that I could place on top of the towers that suggest that it’s even more heavily defended and the opposition of this game see it as an extremely powerful strategic holding point.

Reloading Blueprint

Considering Gunfire is such a large part of my game, reloading and ammo usage would also need to be addressed, because I’m still uncomfortable with blueprints I decided to ask my tutor for help, working together we managed to sort the problem out.

What happens is the blueprint get the Magazine and displays the number on screen which always starts at 20 and every time you fire, it removes Bullet which is 1 and removes it from the total amount of Magazine and displays it on the screen so every time you fire the Magazine decreases by one. Eventually you reach 0 and the Blueprint figures out that if your Magazine capacity is equal or less than 0 it print’s the words Reload on screen.

Player taking Damage blueprint

The AI also have guns that do damage because of this I put together a blueprint that calculates damage on the player that can even cause death. This means the player will have to think about ammo and how they move around since the’s an actual risk to the player’s character this will cause them to think a lot more tactically about what they do since two shots will kill them.

I placed a Box Collision Capsule inside the First Person Characters Viewpoint that acts as hitbox for the enemies projectiles. What happens is when an enemy bullet passes through the Collision Box, it gets the players Health which is 100 and removes the Damage amount and then a Branch works out if the Health is equal to or less than the player’s Health and if it’s true the First Person Character is destroyed.
