To begin with during Pre-Production I already knew what I wanted to do and explained that thoroughly in my Proposal. I began drawing sketches and writing down ideas and at this early stage nothing was set in stone so I wasn’t ruling anything out however I still took into account the timescale for this project and understand that I would have to adjust to it and spread out my time sensibly.

During the very start of this project I wanted to create an expansive indoor and outdoor area that the player would be able to explore but after thinking it over I think doing both areas would be overstretching myself and even if I did manage it I don’t believe both areas would be that high quality in terms of texturing and modelling in general making them feel not very impressive and lacklustre. I also imagine that I would encounter several problems and given the timescale I didn’t want to spend too much time figuring them out and leaving even less time for Production.
I them decided to just create the indoor area, because of this I could put more thought and effort into it creating a smaller but more exciting environment for the player to explore and have fun with. The game would also run more smoothly and would allow me to put more of my time into it filling it with interesting models and assets.

I then began to plan out what the corridors and walls would look like, at this stage they’re basic pencil sketches and even using these I could get a great understanding of scale and the feel they might have when made in UE4. I added annotations for where the models could be placing and what rooms they could be used for and a small floor plan for a section of main corridor suggesting where certain entrances and exits go and where certain door lead.

This drawing is a possible conclusion to what the games environment would look like from above showing different rooms and how they’re all connected, since this is a Survival game with Demonic Zombies the map will be littered with ammo and even possibly new guns that allow an alternate for stronger enemies that you may encounter. Obviously this can change and the’s no doubt in my mind that it will during Production but I think it’s a good idea to have something to strive for.
